Naxrammasis available in WoW Classic since last week, which caused great excitement among players, as this is one of the most anticipated updates since the launch of this retro version of World of Warcraft. However, after few hours we knew that some players were able to complete this complicated raid in the same day it was launched, which has generated a great disappointment in veteran players who expected a much more difficult challenge, similar to the one that existed when Naxrammas was originally released in Vanilla. Naxrammas was the last raid that was implemented in WoW Classic in 2006 before the launch of The Burning Crusade expansion and became famous for being perhaps the most difficult of all, as it was a challenge that most players could not complete. In fact, according to some expert sources, this challenge was completed by only 0.7% of World of Warcraft Vanilla players in 2006, so normally many players now in 2020 expected a challenge that would measure up and be as complicated as the one of yesteryear. Why did Blizzard decide to make Naxrammas easier? Naxrammas was completed in just an hour and a half after launch, which speaks volumes for its easy difficulty, as the raid includes 14 bosses that must be defeated to reach the final battle. One of the things that have changed in WoW Classic in comparison to Vanilla is that now the game allows you to enjoy the best version of your class, with all the statistics to the maximum level. Previously this did not happen and each player had to increase their stats to become stronger. In the same way, it is currently much easier to get the best buffs to weaken enemies nowadays. In 2006 it was unrealistic to have so many options when fighting and have such a high level. With WoW Classic Patch 1.12, Blizzard stated that they can modify the game experience to introduce more age-friendly and time-sensitive mechanics to decrease the ‘cruelty’ that the game had in the past decade in terms of difficulty. Currently, players can even buy classic gold to raise their skills faster, a situation that was unthinkable during Vanilla.
Naxrammasis a failure? Considering how easy this raid was completed, many players will find that Naxrammas has been a disappointment to them and that Blizzard has failed the community when they introduced this new content. What was truly attractive about Naxrammas and the battle against Kel’Thuzad was the complexity of it and this was a component that Blizzard discarded this time, making this legendary raid feel like just another mission. Of course, now it’s time to introduce The Burning Crusade expansion. This will be a new opportunity for Blizzard to do things right and make the fans regain interest in WoW Classic, as it has also been overshadowed after the launch of WoW Shadowlands. Blizzard has the future of WoW Classic in its hands and depends on the company if this old version of World of Warcraft continues to have the success that it has had since its launch.
